HMS Pinafore
One of Gilbert & Sullivan's best known works, HMS Pinafore became an international sensation when it debuted in 1878 and enjoyed the second-longest run of a musical theatre piece at that time. The story takes place about the Royal Navy ship, the HMS Pinafore, and concerns the captain's daughter falling in love with a lower-class sailor. This beloved comic opera pokes fun at the British social classes, politics, and, of course, the Royal Navy. The plot is full of topsy turvy twists and turns, well-known melodies, and unforgettable characters. This production was directed by Jodi Marcum, with music direction by Mark Ring. It featured outstanding local performers accompanied by a live chamber orchestra. We are thrilled to be offering our entire production on our YouTube channel.
Please enjoy and consider donating the cost of a ticket (or more) toward future Franklin Light Opera productions!
